How to Change Your Wi-Fi Password from Your Phone

You don't need a computer to manage your home network. Any modern smartphone can act as a mobile command console for your router hardware.

1. Validate Your Wireless Connection

Before attempting to change settings, ensure your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network in question. You cannot modify a router's internal settings over a cellular data connection (5G/LTE) unless remote management is previously configured.

2. Reach the Admin Gateway

Open your mobile browser and enter your router's IP address into the search bar. This is typically 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. If those do not work, you should check your router IP address in your phone's network details.

3. Authenticate and Navigate

Login using your administrator credentials. If you haven't changed these from the factory settings, consult our database for default router passwords. Once inside, look for menus labeled Wireless, WLAN, or Wi-Fi Settings.

4. Update SSID and Security Key

Locate the field for the SSID (Network Name) and the Pre-Shared Key (Password).

• SSID: Choose a name that doesn't reveal your street address or personal info.
• Security Mode: Select WPA3 or WPA2-PSK (AES) for maximum defense as part of your home network hardening procedure.

5. Apply and Reconnect

When you tap **Save** or **Apply**, your phone will immediately lose its connection because the old credentials are no longer valid. You must go back into your phone's Wi-Fi settings, "Forget" the old network, and join the new one with your updated password.
